The best app of all time!

Memoir is the best idea of all time to recall the digital pictures we took daily. The only problem is the latest updates have not yet considered the new Mac Photos application to sync... But I look forward to it.

Does not work with current Aperture version

Complicated registration (can’t paste password in the Facebook signup box). Does not recognize my Aperture library. All in all looks rather shakey and buggy and I would fear it could mess up my photo library

Wish there was a rating lower than 1 star

First I’m not sure how this could even be approved as none of the image-clicking functionality works at all (Yosemite). You also can’t remove sources once they’ve been added - removing the check-marks has no effect. The huge ad for the mobile version will never disappear, even after you have downloaded said version. The lack of documentation and information about how this app and site will handle your photos is disturbing to say the least. All your images will be uploaded to memoir’s servers and there are no options for excluding any images that lie within one of your selected sources. If you select a source by mistake, you’re out of luck, you’ll never be able to remove those photos. This ap is pretty much just a menu bar icon that will upload photos from your Mac to their server and eventually show you some images if you click back on the icon in the menu bar. No notification support, no sharing, no photo info, no jumping to photo source, no checking additional photos from that day in history, nothing.

Iphone good - Imac not so much

The program took a while to prepare loading all the images, I was expecting this. While using it on my iPhone 5s it works well and it’s a good suprise to see what I did years ago. On my iMac it’s a different story, I can see maybe one or 2 pictures and then it freezes. I doesn’t want to load anymore pictures or is stuck loading more pictures, not sure. So this app is great on the phone poor on the IMac.

Жрет память

за несколько дней сожрало 50 Gb memory leaks! 50 gb used after two days. imac freezes

Add Tumblr as a source

It is really nice, but it would be great to add Tumblr as a source!

Perfect companion for the iOS app!

This is exciting! I have been using the Memoir app on my iPhone for over a year, and now I can see my memories on my macbook! My favorite part of the day seeing what I have been doing in the past using Memoir. Now I can see everying on my big screen at work! It also makes it super easy to add all of my old photos from my stand alone digital camera to Memoir. I am going to spend the evening finding all of the places I have stashed phtoos on my macbook so they can be uploaded! Keep up the good work!

awesome!

syncing up my old mac photos was super easy. i love how it’s very similar to the mobile app

Inappropriate terms and conditions for MY memoir

This application looks like an interesting concept…record MY memories in a media rich inclusive manner. However, the terms and conditions contain the following statement "We may permanently or temporarily revoke or suspend your access to Memoir without notice and liability for any reason…” I cannot agree to something where my memories can be suspended from MY access for any reason. NO THANKS!!! Deleting app.

crashed, can’t reopen

The app crashed during setup when I tried to authorize Twitter. Now I can’t reopen it.

Halfhearted attempt

While it is nice to see another company put out a Mac app, it’s clear that this company simply did not care that much. The only interface into the app is a menubar icon that displays what looks like a ruddy webpage, and a preference pane that for some reason does not bring up the app’s menu bar. In fact, there seems to be no circumstance under which the app will enter the foreground, which is seriously odd. By far the biggest flaw is that the app does not show syncing progress, so I have no idea how long it will take. Should I leave my computer on overnight? I have no idea. Syncing also seems to bee very slow, with my computer saying the total data sent per second while the app is running— including all other apps on my system— is ~200 bytes per second. I have a 75mbps internet connection, but I don’t have two weeks to wait for it to upload my 35 GB iPhoto library. Also, for some reason, they don’t even bother to authenticate Facebook through the OS. Even if you are logged into Facebook on your Mac, it will still pop up a web dialog for you to enter your username and password. This is a real pain if you have enabled two-factor authentication, and really shows that the developer did not even care to leverage this simple feature to make signing up a smoother process.

Great concept, poor execution

I was excited to see this. The icon, graphics looked beautiful and given that it was an Editor’s Choice feature, I was excited to use it. Well, I am disappointed - in Memoir, and in Apple. It’s half baked at best. Issues, to wit: 1. You can’t copy / paste passwords to link your various source accounts (for example, Instagram). That forces me to type my strong, 24 character, randomly generated passwords (thanks, LastPass!) in character by character. Disallowing copy/paste is encouraging 1. weak password use 2. not linking accounts 2. Buggy. Crashes. 3. UX issues - at times it tries to behave like a pure menubar extra, at other times - a dock process. How did this pass Apple’s stringent app review process / HIG review?? 4. UI - it looks thrown together. I hate, hate, hate when an Editor’s Choice app has a beautiful icon, and then a half-thought-out UI. 5. photos vs. status updates: I don’t want to see a status update from 2 years ago about some random thing. I want to see photos, which is all I expected. If you’re going to break that expectation, I can understand that - but please! Offer a preferences to only show photos vs. other content. It’s a promising concept, but it’s clearly not ready for prime time. Apple should not be featuring this.

Fail

Installed with ease, but couldn’t get it to sync with anything beyond my local storage. After crashing twice I just deleted it.

Deleted within 20 minutes

After working through the social media logins and syncing of local data, the App had me re-start the process all over again. I wrestled with it (and the security checks that go with logging into Facebook, Twitter, etc when you have 2-step verification activated) for a while and decided I didn’t need an app to help me reminice. Not recommended, and some Editor at Apple must be on the take to have made this an “Editor’s Choice.” The idea? Great. The implementation? Lousy. Not even worth it for free. Sorry.

Kinda Just Broken

If you get on the App Store Editor’s Choice list you should bring your A game. Facebook integration is just broken, so the realization of any of the other features is purely conjectural. After multiple attempts, Memoir just doesn’t recognize the connection even though fb confirms the access. So… revoke access and dump Memoir into the bit bucket. See ya!

BAD. Locks up Aperture, offers no findable tech support. BAD.

This is completely wrong. No easy way to quit the app on a Mac or to make changes. It has locked up Aperture and will not allow me to access photos for use on my iPad or iPhone. Everything on my Mac is acting like it’s mired in mud. There is no link to customer support. The “Memoiries Support” link on this App Store page goes to a perfectly useless page for signing up. No tech support links there, either.

Well that was easy

I was cautious at first after seeing some of the reviews, but I have been a long time user of the IOS app, and I was able to login with that ID, add the local source, and nearly instantly saw images being added to the timeline and my linked sources- It appears to be an excellent companion to the IOS app, and an easy setup if you already have an account linked to your online sources.

They review your passwords

In the terms and conditions for this app "When you sign up with us, we will collect certain limited information [clip] such as your chosen password. We may also collect information about your other accounts, such as your login credentials and other information regarding your accounts on third-party feeds and services (such as Facebook, Instagram and Foursquare) [clip]. We also collect information about your relationships with other users on social media services that interact with our Services.” Instantly removed… They could easily write this app without collecting login “credentials” … i.e. YOUR PASSWORD … for other services like our Facebook, Instagram and Foursquare accounts or about users we interact with.

Quickly Removed it

I had a bad feeling about this app as soon as I installed it. No, I have no desire to share either my photos or my account information with you. I’m not sure how this got to be an ‘Editor’s Choice’ and I hope others will be cautious about installing this. Maybe it’s just me and I’m all wrong, but other reviews seem to share similar feelings.

Dissappointment

Honestly it’s a good idea and it seems really cool, but once you download it you realize it’s just being able to stalk yourself on every social media site at once.
