Really enjoy being surprised by Memior!

It’s “Throw Back Thursdays” on steroids! My Memoir reminders take me right back to the moment. Highly recommend.

Well that was lame

After seeing this app “featured” in the Mac App store for a few days now, I decided to download and try it out. It’s free, so why not? Here’s why not: I can’t even get through the initial setup without it bombing out. It seemed to digest my Facebook credentials all right, but as for Twitter and Instagram- no luck at all. I let it step me through the setup process for adding those other services, but it just fails completely. For instragram, it was completely non responsive, and for Twitter, instead of completing the integration, after I provided my twitter credentials, it just opened twitter in a new web page. Never did integrate. Now, I can’t get the app itself to launch on my Mac. It looks like it’s already running, but when I do cmd-opt-esc to try and quit and restart, it isn’t listed in the running applications. So, I can’t start it, and I can’t stop it. It’s just in some limbo state. What I CAN do, though, is delete this garbage. Cool idea, completely misses the mark in terms of user experience and setup. Buh-bye.

Love seeing my memories

I dowloaded this app after seeing it featured. I love it even more now that i have the accompanying iPhone app. At first it was nice to just check my little daily Memoir everyday from my computer, and now i can check today and scroll back to other days too on my phone. Download if you have a lot of photos on you computer that you never find the time to look at.

Who ever designed this app has never had an ex

This is sort of a rehash of Everpix without the price or the cool features. The whole mass curation/black box construction of “memories” put up a photo of a friend’s ex girlfriend while he was demonstrating to his new girlfriend. maybe a better name would be Surprise! or KaBoom!

It’s like a second memory

if you can’t remember what you did last night.. or a year ago… or 3 years ago? You need memoir..

No photos

After config the source photos library, Still no any photos like years ago or months ago been showed.

Works great here. I really enjoy seeing the memories each day.

I read previous version reviews and was surprised at how negative some were given my own very positive experience with this app. In my case, I just used iPhoto, my Pictures folder and Facebook for sources. I am not into tweeting or sharing pics of what I had for lunch, etc. so I don’t need anything else personally in the way of social accounts. And I sure don’t care about following the tweeters of the world but to each their own there. Anyway, I set the app to start when my iMac does and to post a notification when it has new memories each day for me to view. I set the menu bar icon so it is blue also just to make it easy to see if I want to see memories again later in the day. On my late-2013 27” iMac running OS X 10.10.2 the app has run flawlessly. Setup was simple and I encountered no issues doing it. Basically, it works as advertised here delivering daily a new set of photos and Facebook posts I made from last year and earlier years at times. I love being surprised by photos of my grandson and other photos too, along with whatever I was saying to friends and family on Facebook in the past. It’s fun. At least I think so. The price sure was right too. I liked this so much I got the iPhone version on the app store and that also works flawlessly me for me with the same setup. If this looks appealing to you I would encourage you to give it a try. I hope your experience is as nice as mine. If you do run into an issue, rather than write a negative review here, why not give the app developer a chance to help you resolve it? If that doesn’t go well, I could see reviewing accordingly but I suspect that many times people ditch nice apps without giving them a fair chance.

Great way to discover old memories!

The desktop application works great. I really enjoy seeing memories surface and I didn’t have a problem integrating my computer photos. I also have the mobile app and love the additional features on there. I’ve been sharing a lot of pictures thru the mobile app, which makes it more fun! I definitely recommend syncing as many platforms as possible, as well as your contacts to get full use of the app.

convenient, powerful !

This is a creative app, and lets me sync photos from all devices and social sharing accounts. So convenient for me to fetch and manage those scattered photos. Thanks!

I love the iPhone App but the desktop is a resource hog

I’ve tried using the desktop app for the past year or so and it’s still a complete resource hog. I just came down to find my computer with the fan running at full capacity. I check the activity monitor and the app was taking 1.29GB of memory and maxed out my memory. Why so much memory is needed for it to run is beyond me. As soon as I closed the app my computer quieted down instantly. I will not install the app again on the desktop unless this is fixed. I love the iPhone app though.

Finally a great photo manager

This does so much I don’t really know what it does.

High CPU usage

At least once a day I will find that Memoir is running at upwards of 70% CPU utilization. This is completely unacceptable! I enjoy the utility of this software, but I’m not going to use it if it means running my computer hot and losing precious battery life. I think the service is wonderful, but I wont be using it until I hear that these issues have been dealt with.

Resource Hog, Half the Functions Don’t Work

I’ve had this installed and running on my MBPR for the last two weeks. It’s still “uploading” and is the one app using the most resources. Constantly. None of the right-click image functions work. You can’t download. You can’t open in a new window. You can’t copy. If this is still a work in progress, why make those menu items available at all? That being said, I do like being able to see photos from years and years ago. I also use the iOS version and my question is why can I see 16+ years back on the Mac, but the iOS version tops out at 7? Memoir is a great idea that needs a LOT more work before it reaches its advertised potential.

Terrible

The Mac App is terribly designed. Resource Hog, Takes forever to load on a solid system. 2012 iMac 24GB Ram 500GB SSD 2GB VRam

13GB of RAM!

I upload to all the services including Shoebox, TimeHop and Memoir. Memoir goes as far as seeing text posts from Facebook which is a noce touch. Unfortunately, this thing does not release RAM. The best way to use it is to have it start at boot, let it upload whatever new photos you have and then quit out.

As others have said CPU monster

The idea of this app is Brilliant. Look through all my photos from past and show them to me on the day they were taken. I love it and I love the iPhone version. Unfortunately the desktop version has a major issue with using up all the CPU, mine was at 95%. If they can solve this issue then they will regain the three missing stars from this review.
